The Friends of the Spotswood Public Library is a community organization dedicated to helping the library achieve maximum service to the public. Since 1996, the Friends have initiated fundraising activities, sponsored and organized programming, and subsidized purchases that were beyond the scope of the municipal library budget.
In 2021, the Friends celebrated twenty-five years of success. Through their fundraising efforts, the Friends have provided much, including the new TV in the meeting room, a glass-fronted display case, and outdoor signs, and has also supported Summer Reading and the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program
Currently the Friends fund the Library’s movie license which allows them to show current movies in the library every Monday afternoon at 1:00pm, as well as for children’s events like the recent Encanto Party and the Summer Night Movie Fun schedule for Summer 2022 on Thursday evenings at 6:00pm.
The Friends have had several Dine to Donate fundraisers this past year thanks to Gennaro’s, MJ’s, Otilia’s and Scoop to My Lou.  We thank all who have participated.
The Friends have also sponsored the library’s museum pass programs to Grounds for Sculpture and The Newark Museum.
Ahead are new challenges and opportunities, as we seek to make the Spotswood Public Library a small jewel of library service and public pride. Please fill out the FOL – Membership form and return it to the Spotswood Public Library.
Our meetings are once a month. We’d love to have you get involved in planning our upcoming events.
