Bookshare is an accessible online library specifically for people with print disabilities. With more than 900,000 books in the library, people can download many books of interest, including best sellers. Books can be downloaded in various formats: audio, audio with highlighted text, large font, and braille. Books can be read on-line using Bookshare’s web tools or they can be downloaded to a wide variety of devices from computers and smartphones to special portable devices. To access and download accessible books from the Bookshare, the person must provide proof of disability (a single form to be filled out) and membership fee, which is $50.00 for the calendar year for adults. For students in K-12 or colleges, the membership is funded through a grant from Office of Special Education Programs.
