Get ready to watch some of the world’s best films – for free. Spotswood Public Library cardholders now have access to any of the 30,000 films in the Kanopy collection.

If you like documentary, international, classic, or independent films, give Kanopy a try. It offers film festival favorites, hard-to-find titles, and thousands of films from the Criterion Collection, Great Courses, PBS, Women Make Movies, Samuel Goldwyn, and more. CBC News called Kanopy “a treasure trove . . . arguably the greatest assortment of international art cinema under one roof.”

Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

Here’s how it works:

1. Visit spotslibrary.kanopy.com.

2. Create a new account with your email address.

3. Once you receive the email verification, login to Kanopy and enter your Spotswood Public Library card number and pin number.

4. Start streaming!

You can watch up to 5 films per month (called “play credits”). You have 3 days to watch each film. Play credits reset on the first of the month.
